Defusal Manual

Standard Operating Procedure v1.0

New: Emergency addendum added — review Phase 4 (Experimental) for updated override steps.

1 Phase 1: Assessment (The Prep)

Before interacting with any modules, the Defuser must report the following to the Expert:

  • Serial Number: Read the alphanumeric code (e.g., A1B2C3). Use this to determine logic-gated rules (e.g., if it contains a vowel/number).
  • Battery Count: Report the total number of battery packs (e.g., 0, 1, 2, or 3+).
  • Device Label: Note any specific text on the casing; this may unlock advanced mode.
88:88
S/N: A1B2C3

2 Phase 2: Module Protocols

1. The Wire Array

3 Wires:
  • If no red wires, cut the 2nd.
  • If exactly one red wire, cut the 1st.
  • Otherwise, cut the last.
4 Wires:
  • If >1 red wire, cut the last red wire.
  • If no red wires, cut the 2nd.
  • Otherwise, cut the 1st.
Detonate

2. The Big Button

This module features a large button with specific colors and text.

Button Color Button Text Action
Red "Detonate" Hold until timer shows '5' in any digit.
Blue "Abort" Tap immediately and release.
Yellow "Press" Tap quickly.
Any Other Any Hold and watch the strip color. Match color to timer digit.

3. The 2x2 Logic Cube
(The "Chromacube" Module)

This module has 4 colored faces: Yellow, Orange, Black, and Red. It emits a periodic beep. The Defuser must report the current visible color and the beep speed.

Beep Speed Current Visible Color Battery Count Required Action
Fast Red 0–1 Rotate the face to Yellow.
Fast Orange 2+ Rotate the face to Black.
Slow Black 0–1 Rotate the face to Red.
Slow Yellow 2+ Rotate the face to Orange.
Irregular Any Any Press the center of the cube immediately.

Note: If the beeping stops, the module is disarmed. If the beeping frequency increases, you have made an error; reset the sequence immediately.

3 Phase 3: Safety & Final Cut

Communication Hygiene

The Expert must use precise, jargon-free language. Avoid saying "Cut that one" if multiple wires are nearby. Be explicit.

Panic Management

If the Defuser is moving too quickly, the Expert must issue a "Freeze" command. Do not allow them to make a move unless the logic has been verified against this manual.

Rule Conflict (Critical)

If the Serial Number contains a VOWEL, the rules for the Big Button are INVERTED.

If the Serial Number contains a DIGIT, the rules for the Wire Array are INVERTED.
